All Rounder / Operator 

 The Shire of Upper Gascoyne is home to the magnificent Kennedy Range and Mount Augustus – “The World’s Biggest Rock!” and we have an exciting new role to fill out our Works and Services team at Gascoyne Junction.  The Shire of Upper Gascoyne is a family friendly employer and are proud to be WA’s winner of the 2022 Tidiest Towns Awards.

We are seeking a suitably qualified candidate to fill the role of “Plant Operator/ All Rounder”. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, highly motivated individual who enjoys working in a team environment, and able to operate rollers, loaders, graders, road trains and perform manual labour as required. Good quality housing will be provided to the successful candidate, a residential role is preferred but not essential.

The role does require a hands on approach and willingness to perform manual labour including traffic management, refuelling, road maintenance and minor repairs and maintenance to plant. The role is based on 11 hour days with 10 days on 4 days off roster. A competitive remuneration package is offered including housing.

The successful applicant will be need to demonstrate;

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in road construction or earthworks.
  • Able to work and live remotely.
  • Mechanically minded – able to maintain equipment.
  • Experience in working with and/or in culturally diverse communities.
  • Excellent communication, time management and conflict resolution skills both written and verbal.
  • Understanding and experience in implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Principles.
  • National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).
  • Hold a current “HC” class motor drivers licence.
  • Able to take direction and work unsupervised.
  • Ability to perform other manual duties as required.  

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior Experience in Local Government.
  • Forklift High Risk License
  • Experience in Basic Worksite Management & traffic Control
  • Hold a current “MC” class motor drivers licence.
  • First Aid Certificate.

 

Total Salary Package:

  • Cash Component – annual salary range $100k and $110k depending on qualifications and experience
  • Cash Component – 11% Super Guarantee
  • Access to participate in Council Salary Sacrifice Super Scheme as per policy (5%)
  • 5 weeks Annual Leave
  • Housing to the approx. value of $7,800 p/a
  • Utilities (electricity, water and gas) to the approx. value of $2,500 p/a
  • Uniform Allowance $500 p/a as per Council Policy
  • Relocation expenses as per Council Policy
